About

Minami Coast Living is your insider’s guide to the southern tip of Chiba, where ocean breezes meet rural charm. Here you will find tips for exploring Tateyama’s regional activities from scenic spots to seasonal festivals—just two hours from Tokyo.

As more and more people in Japan are looking to the countryside for a simpler, more meaningful life, we’re excited to be part of that shift. The southern Bōsō Peninsula is full of space to breathe, rich traditions, and a deep connection to the land—and we’ve fallen in love with it.

Minami Coast Living began when Robert Sharp and Ann Trinca set out to restore an old house in Tateyama called Miyagi House. What started as a hands-on renovation project soon grew into a larger dream—to create welcoming, artful spaces where people can relax, recharge, and feel truly inspired.

Around here, there’s plenty to enjoy—wander through the peaceful Awa Shrine, take in the views from Tateyama Castle, or swim in the clear waters at Okinoshima Beach. In spring, the Bōsō Flower Line bursts with wild blooms along the coast, making it one of the most scenic routes in the region. Whether you're here to relax, explore, or just soak up the local charm, the slower pace of life has a way of grounding you.

With lush mountain views, calm bays, fresh seafood, and cozy cafés, Minami Coast Living is all about a laid-back lifestyle of good vibes and little moments of magic. We hope you’ll visit soon.
